Haven Collection owns and operates three clubs within New Jersey and Rhode Island, with hundreds of members currently and we are ready to grow our market presence through a mix of corporate owned clubs and franchised clubs. Summary of Position:

Haven is looking for the right fit for our growing company to take over the financial controller responsibilities of the company and manage our financial operations, and work in the area of compliance, A/P, A/R, Payroll and Human Resources. This critical role will be the foundation of the accounting department and will require working closely with the COO, CEO, outsourced accounting personnel, and supervising other staff responsible for maintaining the book keeping. The best fit for this position will be someone who is comfortable in a leadership position, and who can give input on all aspects of the business while also taking care of a range of controller responsibilities while we grow our team.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with a CPA and/or MBA a plus. Experience should be 2-5 years of professional experience in finance and accounting including some at a senior or management level. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance.

Experience in the area of franchise management, accounting, or business operations is also a plus, as the position will require accounting functions related to our franchise operating company and accounting for franchise fees, royalty fees and other expenses related to the franchise program. It is also a plus to have experience working with organizations that own and manage multiple entities.

  • Software proficiency with accounting (Quickbooks online) and other applications (Google and Microsoft products) including project management software (Monday.com) and strong knowledge of accounting systems. HR / Payroll platform experience

Responsibilities:

  • Manage financial responsibilities of the corporate parent company as well as owned entities
  • Calculate and record prepaid and accrued expenses
  • Lease accounting
  • Maintain Cap table and Accrue interest on convertible notes
  • Prepare month end reconciliations and Journal entries in Quickbooks Online to include monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with internal closing process
  • Prepare entity level and consolidated financial statements and include commentary on variances
  • Lead implementation of accounting automation projects
  • Supervise bookkeeper and Review coding of expenses
  • Manage A/R process including invoicing and cash application in collaboration with bookkeeper and membership sales teams
  • Oversee A/P process including invoice processing, expense reimbursement and vendor payments
  • Assist COO with human resources functions and compliance (with GAAP and other regulatory requirements)
  • Processing Payroll
  • Initiate onboarding of new employees
  • Manage company benefits including assisting with 401k
  • Coordinate the budget process and assist in developing projections
  • Manage audit process, specifically with annual franchise license requirements for franchise entity
  • Report to the CEO and COO with timely and accurate financial information including conducting variance analysis and providing insights
  • Track applicable state sales and use tax and process returns
  • Work with Ownership to manage tax returns with outside CPA firm
